Sophie Lechanoine

Born in Alsace and raised in Provence, with Greek, Spanish, and Italian origins, Sophie Lechanoine is a French “photographer traveler” who has been passionate about photography for the past 30 years.

She has traveled all over the world, including three years from 1997-2000 sailing from France to the Caribbean islands, Florida, and Panama, then through the Pacific Ocean to Polynesia, New Zealand, Easter Island, and Chile. She exhibited successfully in Easter Island and Santiago, Chile before returning to France at the end of 2000.

In 2004, Sophie and her husband decided to go on another world tour, backpacking this time, to discover India, Asia, Oceania, South, Central and North America. It was a rich one year tour spent learning about the greatest civilizations, cultures, and landscapes, with each day shaped by her unique vision of the world, from humans to art.

After 12 years in Paris, several exhibitions, and an extended family, Sophie settled in Tokyo, Japan in 2013, where she stayed for seven years. She nourished her inspiration with almost everything that surrounded her. Step by step, she fine-tuned her unique style with “Natur'Art Photo”, inspired by nature and the impact of time. With a unique sense of aesthetics, she moved from the photo to the pure emotion. Sophie exhibited in avant-garde galleries in Tokyo (lidabashi and Omotesando district ), as well as at the Tokyo American Club, French Art Fair of Yokohama and several pop ups in partnership with various talented artists.

Sophie finally left Japan during the summer of 2020 and has since settled in New York City where she looks forward to the new adventures that await.

In her collages, Sophie likes to combine details of materials including wood, metal, vegetal, mineral, glass, and water alongside details of architecture or objects with her own story. Her signature lies in her ability to create a harmony through the mixing of these materials, which in reality never have a chance to co-exist.

Through her work, Sophie's aspiration is, above all, to share a feeling, an emotion, and an impression more than a picture. She opens up a new world and a new vision for the “spectator” so that they can create their own story.

Her passion for beauty, graphic design, the impact of time on everything large and small, combined with a unique sense of observation and of picturing details, cultural differences, and moments, make her photographic compositions of Natur'Art Photo absolutely unique, colorful, and meaningful. In one word: Beauty - Full !
