Faten Gaddes

Faten Gaddes is a French/ Tunisian photographer. Born in Tunisia in 1974. She graduated in Interior Design while indulging in her passion for photography and sharpening her skills through training classes. She is a member of the Visual Art Association (VA) based in Tunis.


Faten works in an artistic and political vein, with an emphasis on the duty to memory. Recently in Tunis, one of her works symbolizing the violence experienced by women across different religions was destroyed.


In February 2020, Faten Gaddes was part of the New York City Artist Safe Haven Residency program. This initiative is led by a coalition of organizations working to safeguard free expression, and includes Artistic Freedom Initiative, Residency Unlimited, Westbeth Artists Housing and The Shelley &Donald Rubin Foundation.


Faten Gaddes has repeatedly shown her work, particularly in Sidi Bou Said , at A.Farhat Gallery, in Paris, at the IMA Arab World Institute, in Bamako at the Aga Khan museum Bamako, in Lisbon at the Gulbenkian Foundation, in Algeria at the MAMA Modern Art museum, in Rome at the villa Borghèse, in Berlin at the IFA gallery, in New York at the United Nations headquarters, in Paris at the Quai Branly museum, in Tunis at Dream City residency Festival, in Marseille at the MUCEM Museum Of Modern Art, in New York at the Pratt institute, in Paris at the ICI Institute of Islamic cultures, In Venice at the Tunisian Pavilion Venice biennial ,In DC at Kartzen Arts Center American University, in Marrakech at 6.4 gallery, in Paris at Sisley Foundation, In New York at Africa Center with Moleskine Foundation In Tel Aviv at Eretz museum, In New York at One World Observatory, In Brooklyn at ACE Hotel with RU organization & AFI organization.


Faten Gaddes is the winner of the first prize of the smartphone short film festival in USA / August 2019.


Her works are in the permanent collections of the Tunisian government, the French Development Agency, the Foundation Pierre Bergé , The Moleskine Foundation, The Kamel Lazaar Foundation and many collectors in Tunisia and abroad.
